Picture a traditional bluegrass ensemble pickin' away in the moonlight. Instead of boys from the mountains of Virginia, think of local rockers from all walks of musical life. Fox N Hounds keeps the laments and ballad’s of Bluegrass music, but also brings a lively addition. It's Bluegrass music of the now. Songs from the hills and from the city-- full of excitement and adventure, love and despair, and even unhealthy appetites. Fall of 2009 marked the release of their self-titled EP. Fox N Hounds has spread its sound across the states to the ears of listeners eager for a new twist to bluegrass music.
The Fox N Hounds are:
STEVEN FOX lead vocals, upright bass
Known for his prowess on the upright bass, this classicaly trained musician sets the bass on fire with his acrobatic bow work. His powerful bass thumping pushes the enesmble into progressive sonic boundaries. Fox also showcases his sideburn-curling songwriting skills.
ADAM SCHLENKER lead acoustic guitar
Once a staple of the blues scene spanning the country, Schlenker found his way home to the music he grew up with. To watch Schlenker's fingers while he plays his his lightning-fast licks is like watching a river flow over fallen trees. Amazing. And it sounds even better.
AARON SNYDER rhythm guitar, vocals
Fox N Hounds is Snyder's first time in a band but you'll never guess when you hear him play, not to mention when you hear his sweet crooning.
TOM BEARDSLEE dobro, vocals
Currently seeking his PHD in Ethnomusicology. The newest addition to the ranks, Beardslee brings a wealth of knowledge to the group. His studies in Africa provide his dobro playing with a wordly feel that speaks to the soul.
AMMON BOWEN violin
After turning down a roadgig with Willie Nelson, Tennessee native Ammon (rhymes with jammin) Bowen, moved to Ohio for a pretty blonde with big…. eyes. His style is a mix of steel toed boots and tuxedos… When asked why he fiddles jammin replied… "I play for the people to dance"
