The noise started in a basement.... A few years back, frontman Jeffrey Kaforey and guitarist James Kaforey briefly performed together in the Akron indie band Straightjacket Civilians, until James took a job in Chicago. A little broken by word of his brother's sudden move yet eager to stay focused on music, Jeffrey split from SJC and turned to longtime friend and fellow musician Robert Allen III. They had already begun recording songs through the use of some junk equipment in a basement, but now had more time to take it seriously. Within a few months they finished the first Hipnauts LP, I Love My Mommy. It was a creative mess of musical pot-pie that was not easy to grasp but very hard to ignore. Four years and two more albums later, and with brother James back in town, The Hipnauts are now a huge force in the revitalized Akron music scene. Newest additions to the band are WMMS DJ Corey Rotic, playing bass guitar, and Michael Rizk, manning the synthesizer duties. With a unique sound that, believe it, masterfully conquers nearly every genre of rock music, The Hipnauts have become the pioneers of an eclectic mass-neo genre appropriately called Conquer Rock.
