The universal artistic medium known as music gives birth to yet another self-proclaimed member of royalty...introducing Usheda.
Usheda was born in Winchester, Virginia; however, when she was three years old, her family relocated to Newark, New Jersey. The African-American princess was born to be an artist of some sort. Her sensitive, attentive, empathic and creative nature became obvious very early in life and, by the age of thirteen, Usheda was penning poetry and writing songs that demonstrated her remarkable depth of emotional understanding and expression. As she gave energy to not only her own emotions but to her personal observations as well, Usheda’s strong desire to inspire others propelled her forward to the point of performing in plays, singing in the choir and showcasing her vocal and creative abilities whenever (wherever) possible.
The singer/songwriter’s passionate interest in world cultures led her to the discovery of the true royalty that she is descended from. After getting in touch with her roots and heritage, Usheda embraced her ancestry of her royal lineage, which traces back to the ancient mound building civilizations of ancient Atlan. Discovering the regality within her bloodline heightened her own self-awareness, thus influencing the future ‘queen’ to present to the world a woman who knows where she’s been, is conscious of where she is, and embraces the uncertainty of where she could be going. She is a strong-willed, free-spirited woman who aims to enlighten, inspire and empower those open to personal growth and spiritual love (loving and embracing oneself).
Usheda’s musical influences range from the soulful, melodic sounds of Sade, to the hard-edged accents of Tina Turner, to the rhythmically-controlled sounds of Queen...her diverse musical tastes, influences and sound culminate into one powerfully-hypnotic musical tone that sets her apart from many. Usheda is definitely not cut from the cookie-cutter mold. She is self-aware, self-confident and filled with self-love. And through her music, Usheda hopes to influence a conscious and spiritual love of humanity. From the self-respecting insistence in “I Demand Respect”, to “Blue Without You” and “I Don't Love You”, on the The Emerald her first commercially-released album, is filled with diverse creativity and musical appreciation. Usheda cannot be anchored to one genre, she is an artist whose talent is driven by passion, and as such, it can’t be confined. Her ‘wild abandon’ approach to music gives listeners of various types something to appreciate.
Usheda's most recent works include an LP of lovers rock reggae, which includes songs like "Doctor Quickly", "Residence" and a reggae remake of "She's Got You" from country singer Patsy Cline, just to name a few. Also, a US tour with the legendary Aston "Family Man" Barrett and the Wailers band. Which spanned the east to the west coast, including cities like Atlanta, Little Rock and Phoenix.
Usheda last venture was in the US Virgin Islands where she recorded new music at Aqua Sounds Studio. She was also featured on VI radio stations such as 1340am WSTA, 105.3 The Jamz and 104.3 The Buzz. Her most recent headlining performance was in St. Thomas where she was backed by "The Unity Band" featuring Abijah.
Currently, Usheda is back in the U.S working on new projects and lining up upcoming shows. She most recently accepted a position with The Business of Music Seminars as a Social Media Manager.
