In the late 1990s, former psychedelic post-punk and lyrical minimalist Randall used to sit around writing increasingly wordy songs on his acoustic guitar. Then he decided to plug his electric guitar back in. Since 2003, the Quartjar sound has solidified into lean, mean electro-acoustic-prog-blues rock.
Randall still sorta thinks he is playing punk rock, even if it has groove, melody and a beat you could even dance to. As D. Boon said, "Punk is what you make it."
