Lanny C / Bio

Due to only having limited amount of characters i can use on here this is the very edited version of my bio.

"BLIND PILOT" Later to be "NEPELESE TWIST".Both were a 3 piece outfit and consisted of the first 8 songs I had written including "Only one" & a bunch of Green Day covers. It was during this period I experience my first ever (semi)professional recording session in a (semi)professional studio. Here we recorded our one and only self titled album.
Eventually the band later folded due to lack of committment from the other members - 1994 - 1996 -
Shortly after countless failed attemps to find any serious musicians that shared my level of committment, dedication, ability, & passion for music to help form a new band, I took a break and started teaching guitar which I found to be a very interesting experience helping people to progress and seeing the difference I had made to them was very satisfying.. It's also great for analizing your own playing. My students were not the only people learning new things.
(1997)"MARMYTE" {Solo acoustic Project} was born.
I enjoyed 2 initial years of gigging it locally with flattering responses from listeners and original song requests during gigs within a short space of time.. with tracks like "LEMON DROP OF SUNLIGHT" , "PERSONALITY" & "SAME OL' THING" Quickly became popular favourites.
Instinctivly I was to take my lyrical influences from artist such as MIKE MUIR (Suicidal Tendencies) and JAMES HETFIELD (Metallica) & MARTYN JOSEPH, among many others {Not the type of people you'd expect to see in the same sentence very often} but with the mystique and less direct approach & subject matter I found very inspirational and immediately relate this style to the above artists (The type of songs that only the writer can fully relate too). Hence the working title "MARMYTE" which seemed to fit {You really do love it or hate it} This style of writing lyrically really appeals to me and continues to be the way I write regardless of which genre the music I'm working on.
To date there is only 4 albums worth of original Marmyte material writen over the course of over a decade one of them being a 12 track covers album entitled "THE LOVE/HATE COVERS" The only reason there hasn't been more is due to the acoustic material coming only secondary to the full band set up I've always desired to have and therefore not considered priority even though considered some of my best works.
Most of my songs have been recorded only in demo form by myself at home.. I will continue to write and hopefully perform the Marmyte stuff for as long as I can as it will always be something I believe in,have total control over and has a audience for regardless of any band situation now or in the future.. + Its the most personal to me.
(2005) I joined "Honour Among None" via an ad I'd seen on a music forum
A 6 piece metal band with huge future potential from Newport,South Wales.
After leaving Family, friends,& quitting my full time job of 11 years as a delivery driver & selling my home I relocated to Wales in order to be closer to the band in order to be more conveniant for rehersals etc..
In 2006 HONOUR AMONG NONE signed to SEVENSIXES, an independent label based in Cardiff, and prepared to release "THE ART OF SURVIVAL" Which we proceeded to record with "Jeff n Ginge" (original Dubwar/skindred members) taking the controls @ Nottinpill studios under a very tight maximum 3 day budget in newport which soon after got us several promising reviews from the likes of KERRANG!,ROCKSOUND,THE SUNDAY EXPERIENCE,HARDROCKHOUSE,HOTDIGITS,STREET TEAM UK and many more...
Shortly after HONOUR AMONG NONE made it to the final five in Myspace's competition to play Download Festival 2006 in Donington. The exposure gained thousands of friends,& staggering support from all over the UK, including BBC Radio 1 and Bridge FM, and found the band finishing in second place.
The track "Lost" taken from the E.P was also featured and aired by the one and only Bruce Dickenson (IM) on his friday rock show later that year which was a huge honour!.
The band then went on to play a live set including excerpts from the E.P at BBC hfd & worc radio.
A side project from the band took shape after reworking a handful of old H.A.N songs which consisted of the singer and myself on guitar under the working name "BURNY&HARRY" which was quite simply "HONOUR AMONG NONE" meets "MARMYTE" in terms of sound wise..
During this time there was only one demo 4 track E.P recorded by the two of us..
Unforunately all efforts and achievments we had gained as a band over the course of the 3 years I was a member were to be all in vain as I quit the band in Nov (2007) due to personal differences between band members.
As a result (2008) saw me at my all time low creatively, musically and otherwise still reeling over the devastation of the previous wasted years it seems.. It took a long time to get over.
After writing away the grief and frustration through music and specifically a track entitled "I REVOLT YOUR HONOUR" I slowly but surely got back to my old self again..Teaching guitar again and I also started learning drums which brings me to the present!
Working solo under the name of Lanny C an Acoustic blend of rock, combining above influencies, delivering thought provoking, somewhat atmospheric songs
The title pretty much sums it all up..
{Deep thoughts honest words,Twists & turns}
