Jim Drew's Soulful Acoustic Rock is a window into the mind of a story teller! There is a very natural connection to his audiences through lyrics and sounds that reflect a familiarity despite his distinct angles on life and music.
These songs are surprisingly cool insights into our lives as seen through the eyes of a craftsman. A journal of ideas that pass through his mind onto paper and fingerboard and then, “hey, how did he know?” is the common response. As Jim brings these songs to stage he finds it is his pleasure to invite many great moments into a concert, bringing a crowd along with him on any evenings journey. Energy, an innocently twisted humor, and yet a sincerity brings the audience into the show. This is what makes Jim's concerts a memorable evening for all.
Jim is a well-seasoned vocalist and tasty acoustic guitar player as well, which add another positive layer to his concerts. Audiences of all ages relate to these cool melodic journeys.
Jim has performed thousands of concerts around the US and Canada, with recognition and airplay around the world. Let’s take a glance at where all this comes from…
Jim has always been on stage, or at least since age four. Jim formed his first band at the age of 12 with his brother and a couple neighborhood friends but even then was learning to present his songs as a solo musician. Since then his Soulful Acoustic Rock has been a mainstay throughout his career, changing only as he finds new vision for the colors and thoughts each day, just due to life and playing out. He also enjoyed a college experience soaked in the realm of classical and formal training for his voice, and then orchestration, even thinking at one point of going on for his masters in conducting, but it was too hard to leave his beloved rock and the community that it created from mainstream stages.
Jim's musical experiences include 35 years as a studio musician, eventually taking on the roles of arranger, producer, audio engineer and studio owner. Mostly Jim captures and creates his own recordings but he enjoys producing a few projects a year for other artists. He recently received kudos for his mixing and arrangements from key centers of production including Nashville, NYC, LA and even from overseas in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. All this work just adds to his arsenal of knowledge and artistry, giving Jim a wide set of perspectives from many different textures. All of this, as you might guess, also feeds into his influences from many corners of music’s own journey.
What about the road?
Both small and large venues are within Jim’s desires of where to perform, including some special events for military bases, local and national festivals, camps, concert halls and auditoriums. churches, bars, clubs and even some cafes. The ability to play so many different venues and just be himself is a testament to his speaking the language of music with both skill and passion. He is well received everywhere he goes by people of all ages and cultures. Authenticity and sincerity along with talent, skill and passion go a long way!

Pursuing what seems like an invasive light and loving the audiences along the way is the adventure.
Come join Jim on his next stop of the journey.
