Pea Pickin' Hearts / Bio

Witty and personal, the Americana duo Pea Pickin' Hearts, combine the storytelling of traditional folk with over-the-top energy of rockabilly, the authentic harmony of bluegrass & the sexy swagger of western swing. Their quirky Americana mashup of roots sounds pay homage to 1940s & 50s Appalachia. Gibson & Ives are the ultimate collaborators, married for 15+ years. That collaboration fosters unique harmonies and songs with humor and sometimes painfully-honest insight.
When not weaving an original tune of love or loss (or just outright lies), the Peas pull out all the stops with tributes to the artists that influence them most, from smooth 1950s crooning of Rosemary Clooney & Tennessee Ernie Ford to campy country collaborations of Johnny Cash & June Carter. But don't assume the Peas are all sweetness & light, the truth of a lyric is often as uncomfortable as the life about which it is written. Every song is a quirky treat that creates unique connections between the audience and the Pea Pickin' Hearts.
The Pea Pickin’ Hearts named themselves in sweet tribute to both Tennessee Ernie Ford & the love they share for their Tennessee home. Celebrating the release of "Last Words" (2015), the upbeat follow up to their folk-inspired album, "Creekwood Crow" (2014), the Peas spend their days touring the United States crashing-testing new songs for the next album release! Don't miss an opportunity to experience the Pea Pickin' Hearts live!
