Bio: Luke Wilkerson grew up in the country north of Knoxville, Tennessee. He studied the piano from the young age of 7 with his early music mentor and local music icon Mr. Albert Rule. Luke studied the classics of the piano repertoire from age seven, shaping some aspects of his music but he was deeply affected by the power of folk tunes from an equally early age. The door was effectively opened when Luke’s dad came home with Bob Dylan and Joan Baez records to play for the family. But one of the most defining moments in his young love with the power of song was when a friend played him a recording of The Band singing “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.” At that moment the awareness of the power of song was planted and the quest was begun to find some way to tap into that same unspeakable, seemingly narcotic, language in hopes to write words and melodies that might affect others with even a hint of what he’d felt.
In high school, Luke was a part of the band The Phantom Romantics which he started with long time friend Chris Weigel. The band was dissolved when its members graduated but Luke went on to pursue a degree in Music Composition at the University of Tennessee which he earned in 2002. During college, Luke was a part of the band Liquid Blue which was later called The Vicarious Dreamers. Most of Luke’s song writing was done post-college between 2002 and the present. A great deal of his work was inspired by his romance with long time sweetheart Jordan Reagan in what turned out to be a winning endeavor. Luke married Jordan in the fall of ’08 and they now live in Fountain City, TN with their two children, son Lincoln and daughter Miles. Luke continues to write songs about issues that stir his heart…from politics, to love, to social justice, to faith.
