Much like Trent Reznor, the mastermind behind Nine Inch Nails, who writes and records all of his own material, Van Clemons does nothing short of the same. Writing and producing his own material, The Sleeping Kingdom, the world in which he created, is so perfectly named due to the fact that all the music that resides under the Kingdom name is music that had been shelved for nearly a decade.
The Sleeping Kingdom started out as a side project many years ago (which started out as some screwing around in his off time in-between bands) that evolved from, just some tinkering, into a full time project. Things eventually accumulated, songs, ideas, Van then decided, and with some persuasion from friends, to go forth and release it all. Over the course of almost a decade, the album, what eventually became, 'Journey Into Darkness', came together piece by piece, and unconsciously, at that. Once enough material became present and band after band disintegrated, he decided to take what he had, share it with the world, and continue to create music for which is his passion.
What almost never was, soon, became a reality. As the vision of this undiscovered 'kingdom' worth of music began to have a face and embodiment, the ship soon set sail. And the 'Journey' commenced. The Sleeping Kingdom is a whole world alone in it's self, a state of mind. One in which you don't have to feel accepted in order to belong. A place in another realm where you don't have to sacrifice a part of yourself just to fit in to the rest of the world's reality..
Heres a great article that The Sleeping Kingdom did with Louder Than Hell-
