DakarooKid comes together when Venezuelan musicians Carlos D Leon and Juan I Marquez move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music. Having an eclectic musical taste and versatile styles, the two decided to embark on a project/band that trascended any genre or culture and just grooves and sounds like good time. They set out to find the greatest rhythm section the world has ever heard and along came Thomas Rojo, native to Fresno, California, a bass-man so groovy that Austin Powers had to ask him to use his "groovy baby" line. The bands drummer during the initial days was Jake Crowl, who provided solid drumming in the band's Ocean Park EP ,recorded at The Village Recorder and Clear Lake Audio. During said time the band shared stage with bands like Jive Mother Mary and Latin-Grammy winners Viniloversus; in venues such as The House of Blues Sunset Strip and TRiP Santa Monica. In January 2013 the band dealt with the uncomfortable news that Jake was quitting the band for personal reasons. Even though it was a loss, Fortune smiled at them when they met drummer Timothy Cantón, a Virginia native Hollywood-based drummer, who today has stepped in bravely to fill the position of drummer. He continues to infect the band with groovy grooves as of today. Hope you like our music!
