Soul Kitchen Collective / Bio

Soul Kitchen Collective began...

when the thought of this open-concept band popped into Laura's head one morning this past winter. She just happened to be belting out one of her favorite Doors' songs in the shower. She immediately called Nick Jarosz right away to see if he was interested. She had met Nick through Craigslist a few months before and was blown away by his carefree attitude and handsome guitar riffs. With a positive yes, she called her good friend and bass player from her cover band, Steve West, and he was just as excited about the idea. His skills were way too funky to be kept in the "cover closet" any longer. All she needed was a drummer... a few weeks later while eating dinner at Copper Canyon in Silver Spring, a jazz quartet started playing and Dante Pope's bright shining aura grabbed Laura's attention as he was layin down some sick beats. She walked right over to him and said, "You don't know me, but I love your style. Will you be in my band?" He looked at her and said, "Yeah, sure" with a happy grin as wide as the infamous Cheshire Cat. They all practiced the following week and were shocked by the group's talent and natural chemistry; the music just flowed and SKC was formed.
