Osara, based in Columbia SC, provides an energetic live show focused on musicality, showmanship, and audience participation, and inspired by other artists like AlterBridge, Of Mice & Men & Avenged Sevenfold. After several line-up changes to get that perfect mix of musicianship and creativity, Osara is now in the hunt to succeed on the regional and national level.
The early beginnings of the band were formulated as a successful cover band, playing the Wild Wings circuit as well as other venues that support strictly cover music. The band, recognizing the potential of being successful original artists, set out to record a 5 song EP with Rick Beato and Ken Lanyon at Black Dog Sound. The EP was recorded in February of 2014, and the band was looking forward to the future.
Health and personnel issues sidelined the band for the majority of 2014. However, after overcoming these issues, the band successfully released their EP, “Osara” on January 1st, 2015, with online distribution through Tunecore. This enabled the band to have their music premiered on I Tunes, Amazon, Spotify and Rdio, as well as other media outlets. The official CD release was on January 9th, 2015, with over 240 people in attendance at Jillian’s, located in the heart of Columbia SC’s Vista District.
At the time of the EP release, the band members consisted of Colton Beasley (VOX), Seth Boone (Percussion), Dallas Dwight (Guitar) and Ethan Gibbons (Bass). After the EP release, Dwight left the band to pursue college and a solo career. The remaining members, refusing to give up on their goals and dreams, continued on as a 3 piece while auditioning replacements for Dwight. While searching for a replacement, the band went back to their roots, performing cover shows to stay on top of their game and to hone their new sound.
While auditioning potential replacements, the band also recognized that the business side of the brand was equally as important to ensure success. In February 2015, Osara joined forces with new start up Carolina Music Management LLC, also based in Columbia SC, to handle the financial, marketing and business aspects needed to get the band recognition on the regional and national scale.
In April 2015, Osara performed their 2nd original set of the year, having added guitarist Lael Silva from Saluda, SC to the line-up. On April 8th, Osara headlined New Brookland Tavern in Columbia SC. Future opportunities for the band include their first music video, featuring the song “Devil’s Daughter” to be directed and produced by Iron Alley Films, and starting in June 2015, the band will be on a few regional tours with Atlanta’s Poynte and Knoxville’s Annandale.
