Giovanni Bellosi / Bio

I'm a Composer / Arranger - Chapman stick and bass player.

Music is like a second skin.
I started to study piano around 11 years old with a severe and classical music repertoire (Chopin, Bach, Beethoven and so on..) and around 17 I felt the need to play bass guitar and I had my fist approach with studies around rhythm and bass leading notes.
Four string, five string and than six string bass around 21-22 years old when I began to play with a progressive metal band.
We realized a couple of demos and with a solid band formation and a new name we realized three albums distributed all over the world. Received many enthusiastic compliments as for example from Mike Varney (producer of Artists as Mike Stern, Stuart Hamm, Steve Morse, Tony Levin, Liquid Tension Experiment, Mike Portnoy, Kansas and many many others..)
During the changing of new millennium I left the band for several collaborations and around 2002 I started to play my first 10-string Chapman stick and in 2003 I had my first seminary in Neuchatel – Switzerland.
I played it for around 5/6 years during which I also participated to seminaries in San José – California and Amsterdam – Holland.
During the same period I studied fretless bass.
Around 2008/2009 I got additional studies about composition and arrangement, especially in use of orchestral instruments.
During 2010 I bought a new 12-string Chapman stick with a new tuning and I finally found my perfect instrument: I play bass, I play piano or/and sometimes both concurrently.
The instrument also allowed me to deepen my knowledge about harmony rules, contrappunto and enhanced my natural skill of composing.
In 2011 I took advantage of the using Chapman stick to compose a Symphony for Orchestra named "Deep Spaces - Discovering Yourself" which is still now available on Bandcamp (http://giovannibellosi.bandcamp.com) with an additional booklet and the story about the travel in Deep Spaces.
Now I’m working about mixing Chapman stick sound with orchestral instruments and still composing new songs.
2013: Arrived a 9 string bass for a new great project: Djent progressive and orchestral album!! Stay tune! :)
