The lights converging over the desert sky in Phoenix are not an anomaly... It is ENOVA. A four piece rock band tearing across the atmosphere, leaving connected and enthralled fans in their wake. Their music exists on a plane that draws from several musical genres while never wavering from the backbone of their love of modern, progressive rock.
In mid 2012, ENOVA gained attention from local and national Radio, with their first single "ONE MORE TIME" (WIOT, WJJO, WIIL WWBN, KQXR, KXXR, KUPD). In December of 2012, the band dropped their first EP Counterpart, (recorded and produced by Micah Wilshire). Subsequent touring and promotion of Counterpart provided a self starting Enova the chance to perform alongside bands like Chevelle, Stone Sour, Trapt, Powerman 5000, Hoobastank, Saving Abel, and many more.
Guitarist Derek Keever adds "We took a real DIY attitude towards our last record. That does not mean we did it alone... But without the help of any real, set management we were able to secure spins throughout the Midwest and West Coast. That provided us the opportunity to share the stage with some great, national touring acts. We feel those are pretty major accomplishments and we’re excited to take things to the next step. And with this new set of songs... hell... I'm just excited about the coming year"
ENOVA is a band that understands the sacrifices required in order to maintain the integrity of songwriting. So the members set forth a plan to live, write and record together for the upcoming EP Dark Waters. After spending many hours building arrangements in pre production on their own, they traveled to Nashville to record, bringing on the expertise of Brian Virtue. (Chevelle, Deftones, 30 Seconds to Mars, Audioslave, Smashing Pumpkins, and more...)
Bassist Matt Brunsvold expanded on the writing process for Dark Waters ... "We wanted to approach this EP just like a live show, unaffected and real. It reminds me of a lot of albums I grew up listening to-live instrumentation not hiding behind production value. At the same time we worked hard to create arrangements of the songs that translate every brush stroke of the sonic picture we want to paint when we play. No cut, no paste-just nuance and vibe. It was exactly what I hoped for. Brian brings that understanding, and knowing that, it was obvious why we chose to work with him. I think we can all agree that it is better to work with someone who ‘gets you’ and Brian does.”
Dark Waters is cerebral, intelligent and sincere. The EP is heavy and melodic with guitar rifts weaving tonal patterns over bass lines that texturize an impressively tight rhythm section. The vocals soar, growl and lilt their way through lyrics that are both factual and metaphorical, allowing for introspection from the listener.
Vocalist Elliot Weber explains "I'm telling a story... but Im not telling you how it is. I hope for each listener to have their individual sense of ownership when they hear our music. I'm not telling anyone how to feel. I'm telling them how I feel and asking if they'd consider themselves in the same situation? I think there is a difference."
Coming from the school of "Do It Yourself" ENOVA sets out to deliver the purest performance of the art and music with Dark Waters. It's an across the board approach to everything they touch. The music travels through your skin, touches your soul, and carries their message stating “It’s by all of us, we survive"
