Born on September 11th 1988, in a bilingual house hold just outside of Montreal, Quebec; Matt Baker fell victim to a severe case of music addiction at an early age. Matt Baker’s music interest amplified through his teenage years, as he picked up a guitar for the first time at the age of 14. His first band quickly followed. By then…music rapidly took a stranglehold on his life, it was already too late.
Throughout his teenage years, Matt Baker climbed the underground latter of the Montreal music scene, creating a network of friends and colleagues across the scene. Being a child of the 90s, he exploited his love for the punk/rock scene on stage through the early 2000s. His passion for music, bordering on the obsession; forced Matt Baker to study the greats of the past decades, pushing and refining his musical tastes to new levels.
A rocker at heart, Matt Baker continued to play guitar for various bands in the Montreal area for most of the decade. His creative thirst began to grow, until it could no longer be ignored. Baker promptly applied his talent to various instruments, self-teaching himself piano and drums. Following a solid underground career as a punk/rocker, Matt found a new love for synthesizers, Electronic and Dance music. The turntables quickly followed. Matt Baker performed as a DJ amid the impressive Montreal Nightlife roster of the late 00’s. The art of sampling and song crafting swiftly transformed into an addiction.
Matt Baker finally found niche in the Hip Hop scene where his multi-instrumentalism, love for sampling and song writing modeled him intro an accomplished beat-maker and music producer.
