Sheldon Pereira, a singer and music producer had a tryst with music at the age of 17, when he started singing with rock band Tantrix. He has remained in touch with his passion for the past 15 years that inevitably translated into becoming his career.
Over the years, he has performed with various artists and bands including Aqua Flow, High Tide, Tequila, Zeal, Kickstart Freedom, and Thompson Andrews to name a few and has performed at venues like Hard Rock Cafe, The Blue Frog, High Spirits, among others as well as at various corporate events. Presently, he does gigs and tributes with his band Sheldon Pereira & The Band.
He released an english rock album titled “India” in 2014 which is currently being promoted on Artist Aloud & carious platforms. Also in the works is a hindi album slated to be released in 2017.
He grew up on a self-fed diet of Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Sting, Phil Collins, Rush, and Guns and Roses to name a few. Among contemporary artists, his favourites include Maroon 5, John Mayer, David Cook, Kings of Leon, Robbie Williams and Jamiroquai. Sheldon’s brother, who played bass guitar for Gary Lawyer, Remo, Alisha Chinoi, Mantra and Krysys, has however, remained his biggest influence to date.
For Sheldon, music is a tool to express emotions and desires, and to bring out the artist from within. “Music has kept me alive and I enjoy what I do especially when I’m on stage, I get a kick out of huge crowds and the whole vibe when performing in front of an audience that reciprocates to your sound,” he says.
He sees music as a medium to help him connect with the outside world and to make people relate to his songs. “It’s a bridge between reality, and an imaginary world that I create through my lyrics that gives me a sense of satisfaction. I want to be seen as a versatile musician who thrives on the power of music. I am trying to pursue my dream to create a place for myself on the international circuit. Until then I’m just singing along and making my life a happier place,” says Sheldon.
