Esteban Roybal is a professional drumset player and performs with established bands in the Seattle area. Esteban has experience playing live dance music to a click in addition to playing blues and swing in the pocket.
Esteban believes in three important elements when performing , “Pocket” “Groove, and "Passion”. Esteban always asks the questions, “Is this a good product? Does it groove? Are people having a good time?” Esteban seeks to focus on the big picture and music as a whole, not just how fast he can play. However, Esteban also quotes Neil Peart; “Less is only more when it’s better”, adopting Peart's idea that the common phrase “less is more” is often used as an excuse for musical laziness. While holding on to pocket, groove, and passion, Esteban seeks to expunge any musical laziness from his own playing and take his music to the next level.
As a performance artist and drummer, Esteban seeks to demonstrate his ability to produce an excellent product while still holding on to the core values of what makes music “music”.
Esteban began his music studies at the University of Idaho under percussion director Daniel Bukvich. Since then he has also studied under Seattle drummer Garey Williams. Esteban has performed in a variety of locations in the Northwest including, Seattle, Portland, Spokane, Ocean Shores, Boise, McCall, Lewiston, Coeur D'Alene, Sandpoint, Moscow, and Pullman.
