Force.is.Machine / Bio

We see it before us, we need only to reach for it.

Stefan St. John [a.k.a. Voytek Den Ouden] began working with electronics and obscure musical concepts in the summer of 2003. The schematics and construct of a dissimilar noise was portrayed via rough 4 track samples and arrangements. As time progressed the sound evolved into a darker substance and harsher material, varying from war ideologies, societies faults and man vs. machines concept. By experimenting with synthesis and sampling noises, he created his own effects through keyboards and other electronic devices. When he developed his sound, in 2004, Force.is.Machine was born - an old school, industrial sound combined with unique, self-made percussion and style. Unique is an understatement when it comes to his music and him as a person.

Axis Chemicals, a production company once based out of Ft. Lauderale, FL, took interest in St.John's music and eventually booked Force.is.Machine to play a debut show at "Wasteland of Opportunity". Within months , Force.is.Machine was in the studio and started recording the Skumbag! EP. Taking old songs and re-mastering them along with new originals. The Skumbag! EP was released in the summer of 2006 and was followed by a mini-tour, accordingly named "Aural Assault Tour 2k6" with Panzer Division and Axis Chemicals. The tour consisted of exclusive dates around Florida.

In 2007 St. John took on Kertis Abersold [Kert Rotten] to help with production, management, and live keyboards. Soon after, Force.is.Machine's second EP, 'Eradication', was released which included five original songs, a remix by Hexen Prozess/Die Sektor, and a seventh hidden track entitled Eigenen Blut. The band toured Florida and California to promote the new EP. Force.is.Machine was very well received and the new album was a huge success. Subsequently, in late 2008 Force.is.Machine went on hiatus due to personal matters of Abersold's.

On March 27, 2010 St. John was killed in a tragic car accident.

In late 2011 Abersold, along with former member Steve Bowman, and another close friend of St.John's, Crystal Capettini (Coleco), decided to resurrect Force.is.Machine so his creative talents wouldn't be wasted. The three hit the rehearsal studio and before long the band was back on-stage ensuring Stefan's music would be heard. The bands debut performance was the Florida Underground Industrial Music Festival 2012 in which a special announcement was made by Ben Vanlier, the creator and founder of Beyond Therapy Records, commemorating the talent and artistry of St. John.
