A Liz O Show is like no other show in town. There are stuffed bears and drunken sailors and bawdy pirates and crowd-surfing ponies. There's glitter and crayons and kazoos and cupcakes. There are people dancing around in party hats and wigs. There is merriment and frivolity and sheer unbridled fun.
And at the base of it all are stellar stories, told through song. Liz O has been compared most frequently to Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and "Ani diFranco on Prozac" for her songwriting abilities, while her whimsical, surrealist aesthetic draws comparison to Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.
As for her guitar playing, its firmly rooted in the rhythms of the blues, influenced and inspired by legends such as Bo Diddley, Jimmy Reed, and Howlin' Wolf.
Arriving in San Francisco with just a guitar and a backpack in September of 2010, Liz O quickly put together a band that reflected her vision of 60's era rock n' roll with a layer of sparkles on top. The band got to work recording her debut album, Golden Gate 8, after a successful Kickstarter campaign that culminated in spring of 2011. The funding ran out with still more music to be recorded, so Liz O has been working hard to chip away at the album piece by piece, and with a new burst of activity coming up, it should be ready for release by summer 2012.
Meanwhile, she has been developing the live show and a following by performing all over the Bay Area. She puts on a monthly show, bordering on festival, at 50 Mason Social House, and has featured at The New Parish, The Stork Club, Brainwash Cafe, The Elbo Room, Brick and Mortar Music Hall, El Rio, and Sub-Mission. She is also a regular act at various monthly entertainment events; The Trickster Arts Salon, Literary Clownfoolery, and The Holistic Health Saloon.
With a flexible line-up that ranges anywhere from solo acoustic to four piece band on electric, a dedicated (and booze-loving) fanbase, and collaborations with a variety of other Bay Area bands and performers, The Liz O Show is guaranteed to bring a profitable, and unforgettable event to your venue!
