The legendary Brides of Funkenstein are the voices behind such hits as "Disco To Go" "Flashlight!," "One Nation Under A Groove," "Knee Deep" "Aqua Boogie" and "Atomic Dog," "Never Buy Texas From a Cowboy" etc; Notoriously Funky songs that are the seminal reference of funk music. In 1978, the ladies' debut album Funk or Walk sold 300,000 albums in the first week, reaching number 7 on the R&B charts and beating out The Pointer Sisters and Sister Sledge for Record World Best Female Group award. Their mega-hit "Disco To Go" instantly went Gold in the US, and Platinum in Europe and Asia. Their album, "Never Buy Texas From a Cowboy" is on Rolling Stone's list of Top 100 Coolest Albums Ever Released, along with the Beatles, Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones; their music and live performances has set the precipice for all other artists in the Funk/R& B/ Rock genre.
Lead vocalist Dawn Silva in 2000 released her debut CD entitled (AMFF) All My Funky Friends; another acclaimed album that earned the funk diva independent Recording deals in Holland, Germany, Belgium, and France, as well as 5 star reviews in Asia, North America and The United States. Showcasing her writing and production skills, AMFF was stated to be the only authenic Funk CD to drop in the new millennium. Dawn's body shaking album reintroduced her to funk fans who rejoiced, threw up regulatory p-funk signs as they danced in a blissful state of euphoria. Dawn Silva grouped with Parlet's Jeanette Washington Perkins and Gail Muldrow drew an impressive combined audience of 60,000 fans in the summer of 2009, 2010 and 2012 at the Long Beach Funk Festival. Girl power was on full display, as these massive crowds bathed in a blissful state of FUNK mania, and paid homage to The Brides of Funkenstein! Now in 2014- 2015 the Brides are headed back to the altar, and this ceremony is no small ordeal.
