The Bye and Bye / Bio

The current incarnation of The Bye and Bye is a relatively recent phenomenon with it's additions of bassist Jeff M and mandolin picker Jake, rounding out the line up. Working with original material provided by Jeff S's seemingly limitless back log, the group began with sounds more akin to a post punk format with explorations into prog-rock and dark, low-fi linear song formats. Zack's percussive contributions and backing harmonies, as well as input for song arrangements, added a certain refinement to these early offerings. The two original members worked together with a number of keyboard/bass playing folks with a perpetual trap door positioned underneath their area of the practice room, all had dropped into the abyss due to their various, incidental situations. After taking time to reassess, restructure, and rebuild, Jeff and Zack began to work on a new catalog of songs extracted from the fore-mentioned cavernous treasure trove inside Jeff S's nebulous cranium. The songs became a more sentimental, bitter-sweet version of it's former self, taking a more traditional form and expressing the creator's love of classic country blues and vintage vinyl. However, The Bye and Bye can in no way be classified as a country/roots combo, continuing with it's ideas of obtuse, non-traditional song structures. The finer elements of country/gospel harmonies, as put forth by their heroes The Louvin Brothers and the Carter Family, can be heard distinctly while updating the overall feel with nods to The Palace Brothers and The Band. The Bye and Bye is pet friendly, recyclable, and always aim to please with a layer of perfectly foamed milk stratified on top. We hope you enjoy these ditties we have worked so hard to lay at your stinky feet.
