Icy Eyes is an American electronic rock band based in Florida.
Icy Eyes began in 2009 as a conceptual music project by Indy Cooper with the goal to create music without the bounds of the standard rock instruments. Early on Indy sought out musician and friend Chris Toivola, with whom he shared many musical influences and goals. Patiently waiting for the right time to move forward with the musical endeavor, both Indy and Chris attended college for several years. While visiting a friend, Indy heard a drummer in a separate building. Upon further inspection, he found drummer Stephen Grim rocking out practicing his craft. One thing led to another and early in 2012 and Stephen Grim was welcomed into the band. Originally trying out as the Drummer, Frank Angels admitted he was much more comfortable on guitar. Happy to work with him, Frank was accepted into the band as the guitarist.
Icy Eyes’ first release titled “The Chronicles of Quitting” felt tremendous influence from a wide variety of styles such as, electronica, alternative, progressive, and hard rock. The 8 track E.P. was recorded, mixed, and produced by Indy with the help of many friends. “The Chronicles of Quitting” is a concept album based on breaking free from addiction of any kind. The tracks occur in chronological order representing realization of the problem, confession to loved ones, slips and setbacks, disappointment in ones’ self, frustration of the difficulty, hope that it can be beaten, victory over the hold, and then freedom from it.
