Growing up on the west and north-side of chicago, Tony "MonoPoleJoe" Adams was one many considered socially adept from his teachers, his peers, and even from majority of his close family members.
Before music, Mono was primarily into visual art and video games but it wasn't that "Thing" that really drove him. As a result of Mono's boredom and his lack of a social life growing up as a "Loner", He started writing music randomly one day in his seventh grade science class. While most of his peers were socializing amongst each other that day, Young MonoPoleJoe decided to write a rap just for kicks and giggles. With no intentions of actually becoming an emcee, writing raps slowly became his favorite hobby.
MonoPoleJoe didn't become serious about making music until he was introduced to artists like Lupe Fiasco, Sunspot Jonz, J Dilla, Jehst, Dwele, Pharrell Williams and New Flesh. Formerly known as Monopoly Joe, MonoPoleJoe was Mind-blown by their creativeness lyrically, showing a style of rap that isn't usually played on the radio. This originality of these artist writing skills helped MonoPoleJoe to develop the Hip-hop/ Electronic with a "bottle of jazz" style of music he favors most.
Mono's ultimate goal is to make his mother proud of the him and the music he believe is gold.
MonoPoleJoe's "Misceallaneous LP" was released Early August of 2010. He has performed at many venues in the twin cities area such as The Fine Line Music Cafe, 400 Bar, 7th Street Entry, Honey, and The Blue Nile.
He has opened for Evidence of Dilated People at the Triple Rock Social Club in December of 2011.
