The Macpodz captivate music lovers with a kinky concoction of American tradition and world grooves. Their sound, coined Disco Bebop, was conceived in early 2006 when the rhythm section applied a four-on-the-floor roller rink beat to the Charlie Parker tune Dewey Square.
Brennan Andes (bass) and Ross Huff (trumpet) form the nucleus of a musical element. Shawn McDonald plays organ and keyboard, the drum chair is platooned by Griffin Bastian, Julian Allen, and Steve Harris. A veritable orchestra may also consider themselves honorary Macpodz. Frequent starters in the rotation currently include James Cornelison (guitar) and Matthew Bell (conga). We shall begin a different blog post to recognize individually the cast of tremendous talent with whom we've had the pleasure of sharing the stage.
The Macpodz mission in 2015 remains the same: to celebrate life and community with music and a dance floor.
