By the age of 12, the charismatic Mike McGill was on stage in front of big audiences. He grew up singing old-time gospel songs and old-school, classic country and bluegrass. Names like Buck Owens, Jimmy Martin, and Hank Williams. Bill Monroe and Ralph Stanley. Jerry Lee, the Killer, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard are all artists that helped influence McGill and his musical prowess.
Mike McGill has been a full time singer/songwriter and musican for the past 15 years. From entertaining in Gatlinburg with the band White Oak Flats, the founding member of the classic county band The Drunk Uncles, the Honky Tonk band the Barstool Romeos, and the lead singer and electric guitar player for The Cat House Profits. He has shared the bill with noteworthy acts such as J.D. Crowe and the New South, Doyle Lawson, Junior Brown, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Southern Culture on the Skids, The Head Hunters, John Anderson, Blackberry Smoke, and Elizabeth Cook.
In 2009, McGill gave in to pressure from his fans and began to spend more time on his own music. The result has been a steady stream of brilliant new songs. Mike’s songs are often as beautiful as they are brutally honest. Think raw electric guitar and three part harmony with lyrics that haunt you for weeks.
McGill's solid background and multi-genre experience puts him on par with the best in the business. It's his talent, however, that sets him apart. McGill's voice is unique and recognizable, yet it is the perfect example of old-school honky tonk music. Jimmy's Southern Pub host Mike McGill every Thursday night for the past 3 years, where at any time some of the best musicians from Knoxville, TN and the surrounding region jump at the chance to play with him. McGill in partnership with the famous Barley's Taproom host a concert series featuring the regions best in Country, Bluegrass, and Honky Tonk every Sunday, called the Three Star Jubilee.
