Born in Colombia, Pavelid Castaneda completed university studies in Bogota, Colombia, and then studied Music Education at the National Pedagogical University of Colombia. Pavelid's life has been completely dedicated to music… singer, music director, composer, and teacher. In 1992, he relocated his family to Babylon, NY and soon thereafter began his career as a highly-acclaimed harpist, playing in the most renowned venues in New York. Pavelid and his wife Gladis have since moved to central North Carolina to enjoy a more relaxing pace of life, while Pavelid offers world-class performance to the Triangle region.
Pavelid offers performances as a Soloist, or in Duo and Trio configurations.
SOLO HARPIST: Pavelid Castaneda on Llanera Harp & Electric Harp, performs Folkloric songs from South America including: Alma Llanera, Pajaro Chogui, Ansiedad, La Flor de la Canela, Cueca Chilena, Pajaro Campana, Moliendo Cafe, and many more. His repertoire also includes songs from Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.
DUO or TRIO: Pavelid Castaneda on Electric Harp, with the accompaniment of percussionists, Ramon Ortiz and Nelson Delgado. This configuration
offers a program consisting of more tropical rhythms and some pop. While these performances are mostly instrumental, vocal accompaniment can be incorporated into a desired program set. This repertoire includes songs like: Oye como va, Hotel California, Samba pa’ ti, Perfidia, El Manicero, Mi viejo San Juan, Lambada, Cumbias, and many more.
TRIO or QUARTET: These special performances offer Electric Harp and Percussion with the addition of Angela Castaneda on Venezuelan Cuatro.
