In 2011 The Whirlwind Band celebrated it's 30th Anniversary with a Summer Reunion Tour in the Greater Seattle area. The band was formed in 1981 by Woody Anderson as a Country-Rock band. Since then the band has performed throughout Washington State, playing classic rock, country-rock, and rockabilly dance music. The Whirlwind band also performed for 3 years as a country and country-rock band in the Eagles Club circuit. Whirlwind opened for the late, great Johnny Paycheck at the Ballard Firehouse. Whirlwind also performed with the late, great Sky Saxon for two shows. Whirlwind has shared the stage in a show with The Howard Leese Band (Guitarist/Keyboardist for Heart) and Wild Child (a Doors tribute band). Whirlwind performed at The Chelan County Fair, The Evergreen State Fair, The Pierce County Fair and played for the Seafair Commodores at the Space Needle. For their 20th anniversary tour they performed at The Ponderosa in Mulkiteo and at Legends in West Seattle.
Whirlwind has performed at various Seattle Venues such as Old Timers, The Sunset Tavern, Baranof Restaurant, The Blue Moon, The Glendale Tavern, The Last Chance and at various Eagles Clubs, VFWs and American Legions and Moose Clubs. They have performed at The Pastime Tavern in Sultan, Engels Tavern in Edmonds, The Y-Not, The Central Ave Pub in Kent and many, many more venues, too many to list.
