Nourish . . . so full of life! Derron Claude Wilson has overcome a rocky road in life and exploded into one of the most energetic and lively performers in reggae today. Shedding his former moniker ‘Ninja Fabulous, Wilson has transformed himself into the rising cultural reggae star, ‘Nourish’. With a new name, Nourish brings a revived passion to his music. Always delivering a conscious message, his music truly is nourishing to the soul.
Born in the Portland, JA parish, Nourish grew up in Kingston Mountain View. Music has been a part of his life since his early years, joining his mother in the church choir. His love for reggae music began while watching Peter Tosh videos on a small black and white television. Nourish eventually left his Jamaican home to live in America in the early 90’s.
While living in Boston, Nourish befriended many of the local reggae artistes. His passion for reggae grew when he started a small sound system. Nourish became engrossed in the music and his love for reggae reached new heights. A local artiste named Chuwey Deacon gave him the nickname Ninja Fabulous during a performance in Cambridge, MA. He continued to perform as Ninja Fabulous throughout the 90’s, backed by Ranks Master Sound. Now, back in the United States Nourish’s passion for music and life radiates through his performances and his voice in the studio. Nourish released the hit song Full of Life which captures the essence of his triumph over adversity. He passionately sings, “See dem a pree I , Try to be my friend so they can abuse I, Troddin through the Valley of Shadow I won’t fear thee, cause I know that Jah is my guiding light . . . So full of life”. Nourish is hard at work in the studio on a new culture album set for release in the next few months.
