Jyn Yates launched her drum career at the tiny age of three when she first picked up a pair of drum sticks and started to roll. After learning techniques from her fellow drummer and father she quickly was thrust into the veins of music in the early 80s.
She first sat behind a set of drums at the tender age of three and made her stage debut at thirteen, opening for Tim McGraw and the Kentucky Headhunters. She has appeared as a studio musician on countless projects and studied music and percussion at WKU and Campbellsville University. She has performed for Actor's Theatre, The Kentucky Center For The Arts, Youth Performing Arts School, Center Stage and has worked with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre of New York.
Among wearing the hat as a percussionist, Jyn currently teaches drum set performance and percussion composition full time at Mom’s Music in Louisville, Kentucky. She endorses Supernatural Cymbals and Swirly Gigs!
