If the women who sang backup vocals for Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" started a bluegrass band but accidentally hired funk musicians, there's the realm of Beacon James.
Brought together by our mysterious and shy songwriter, Jameson the Elephant, Beacon James is a band dedicated to story through song. Jameson loves harmony and shaking his elephant booty, so (with his help) that is what we bring to you through gyration syncopation and "extravagant vocals" (Tyler Griggs, Volume One 2011). Folky, funky, sassy and all around dorks, the Beacons are all about you singing along at the top of your lungs... and for your convenience, our elephant has included five part harmony so you don't have to make up vocal lines that he doesn't like.
Compared to The Dave Matthews Band, Sly and the Family Stone, Aretha Franklin, and The Swell Season, Beacon James is not trying to be "like" any group you've already heard of... at our show, you can expect to find a lot more to the story in the lyrics and the music if you listen carefully.
And that's "true, true, true, except for the lies."
