Voodoo Swing / Bio

Voodoo Swing was dead, long live Voodoo Swing. VS's frontman Shorty Kreutz (Atomic Deluxe, Devil's Daughters) returns after a solo album release as Shorty K (Full Custom Boogie) with Tommy Collins on bass and Walter Spano on Drums.
To You My Friend is Voodoo's most personal album yet, breaking away from the kustom stereotypes that most Rockabilly projects seem to clang onto, whilst digging a bit deeper into their tone after a well reflected soul-searching and hiatus.
Thanks to Walter's primitive yet elegant drumming, the grooves are tighter and leaner than ever before, allowing for rhythmical flavors yet unheard from the band, as displayed in the breakdowns of the instrumental "Chokin' The Chicken". Walter replaces the tonitruous Leeroy Nelson (founding member), who pursued newer horizons beyond the Arizona scorching sun.
Whether it's the retro (1920's) tongue-in-cheek "If Hell Has A Place For Me" featuring Holly Pyle's stunning vocals, the histrionic "'Murika", the Led Zep inspired "Fadin' Away" stoner's delight, or the darker nod to bluegrass on “Don’t Tell Me That You Love Me”, Voodoo Swing steers their ship through thick and thin, always delivering the honest song.
The raw deluge of guitars complements Shorty's lyrical realism to a tee, while Tommy's rock solid upright slamming glues together the percussive and melodic contents as he lifts his instrument onstage like a survivor hurls a casket away from grim reapers.
Continuing their sonic adventures with Electric Lotus Music, this album delivers more noxious yet organic distortions and greasy grooves than the high octane trio is already renown for.
Returning to the studio fold, are horns and keys arrangements under Shea Marshall's (Sugar Thieves) magistral talent: always tasteful, never safe from surprise.
As of this writing, the Phoenix based blue-collar commando is marauding through Europe, in between festivals and smaller venues of hardcore fans. A new single just came out (So Fine), available below. Make sure to catch them live, as they’re worth every second of your evening.
