Kenny Davis / Bio

Kenny Davis was, according to local legend, born sometime between 1955 and 1965 in the part of New York City then called Bayside, Queens. What we know of his early childhood we mainly know from contemporaries: "He was crazy"; "Defiled my daughter!"; "Took that damn guitar EVERYWHERE". Apparently, he got his start by strolling out on the street in his underwear, playing the gutar upside down, and claiming to be blind and deaf. This got him in some trouble with local law-enforcement and neighborhood-beautification agencies, and so he finally adapted a normal guitar style and the concept of clothing.
Early in his 20s, Kenny became known to Bob Dylan, who's remarks stand out - "This guacamole sucks!" was the most encouraging comment Kenny had ever heard up until that time. The fact that Bob Dylan's security personnell did not escort Kenny out of the hall proved also encouraging, after an all-night session of music and lingerie modeling at the famous Bitter End nightclub in Greenwich Village.
Kenny, at the same time, sharpened his style by studying with two well-known guitarists of the time, Stefan Grossman and Arlen Roth. Dylan and the two guitar greats commented on how Jewish they all were. Kenny took from that a tremendous pride, knowing that one day, he too will look like the older versions of William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy.
Kenny's style could be described as "eclectic". It could also be described as "Szechuan Beef" - does anyone really care?. He will bring a beautiful innocence to your gig or bowling alley, private party or public intoxication. Kenny accepts Travelers Checks and Yankee tickets, in leiu of fresh meat or rancid women.
Musically - aha - you meant musically. I'm tellin' ya - nobody gives a rat's ass - but here's a short synopsis. I guess I started playing along with Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen tunes in late High School. I was too lazy to actually have to learn a couple of chords - but when I did, you couldn't rip that guitar from my cold, dead hands, Bluegrass, Jazz, Old-Timey, Fingerpickin, Flat-pickin, Ragtime, Blues, Americana (as they call it now) accompanist, lead/rhythm guitarist in full bands. Still learning - that can never stop.I've "shared the stage", in one way or another with the likes of Willie Nelson, Kinky Friedman, Delbert McClinton, Freddy Fender, Doug Sahm, Ronnie Milsap, Jerry Jeff Walker, Hank Williams Jr. , George Jones, George Strait, Bobby Bare, Eddie Rabbit, Roy Clark, Patty Loveless, Highway 101, Sweethearts of the Rodeo, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Molly Hatchett, Exile, James Brown, The Kingsmen, Pirates of The Mississippi, Charlie Daniels, Neil McCoy, Waylon Jennings, Alabama, John Michael Montgomery, Pam Tillis, Bob Dylan, Guy Clark, Kathy Mattea, Vasser Clements, Mickey Gilley, Sawyer Brown, Mark Collie, Forrester Sisters, Vince Gill, Roger McGuinn , Burce Springsteen,
Clarence Clemmons, Steve Goodman, Steve Forbert, Ramblin Jack Elliot, Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, Gary Puckett, Joe Ely...too many to remember - even - get this - Stan Musial.
