Plucky Purcell / Bio

We are Plucky Purcell from Bath

A Hoochie Coochie Funk of a groove, with moves to boot.

We’ve got our only recorded Demo EP out NOW on vinyl 45” on our own label Big Tash Records, recorded in Bath SW UK and pressed at The Carvery in London on the original Motown Neumann Lathe.

We are also appearing in a fantastic short film titled Letterbox - The story of a girl from Bradford who loves music. Nothing could even prepare her for the adventure she embarks upon, with one act of rebellion from her mother. This is a road movie played out in the most enchanting of playgrounds. The magical set of Glastonbury Festival brings adventure, fun, eccentricity, music from the soul, and friendships that cross stereotypes and break social barriers.

Spencer Hawes - Bass, Lead vocal
Tony Berry - Guitar, vocal
Brian Maddigan - Drums
Andy Dean - harmonica
Jas Albarin - Percussion

Since 2010 Plucky Purcell have been travelling by cross-fire hurricane all the way from that well know suburb of Boogiesville – Bath. They rain down a hail storm of get up and Go Go plucky funk. An explosive blend of funktashtic bass, soul drums, hot fuzz guitar, stevie wonder harmonica, incredible bongo beats and Phil Lynott vocals... Oh yeah and they also hand out free moustaches for freestyle movers if they like what they see! Go Feet!
Last year they supported legendary 80s ska band The Beat at Komedia in Bath. Since then these Ruff’n’Tuff Underground R’n’B Boys are the success story of the year in town, ramming out venues wherever their lay their hats and comedy moustaches.

This year they played at Glastonbury Festival at The Rabbit Hole Stage in The Park, The Spike (Glade Stage), The Avalon Cafe and a few more backstage gigs to boot.

Their Demo EP Session is already out on iTunes to download but the debut single (cut on the original Motown Neumann Lathe) 'Walkin' Talkin' is due for release on vinyl 1st November. Look out!
