The Hip Hop duo North Stars are best described with one word; illuminating. They have been said and considered by many in the local music scene to be amongst the hardest working and most professional performers in Northern Minnesota in any genre. Based in Bemidji, MN the group consists of two brothers Jimmy “Tha Cut” & Jon “Wreckless” Tate
Their music is influenced by hip hop, rock to name a few. Using vivid lyricism and conceptual choruses their music is ready. With songs like “Bo”, “From The Ground Up”, and “Power Moves” their music displays a combination of lyrical ability and catchy hooks. Drawing from the roots of rural life, they have progressed their focus of music to the masses. Their crowds have had consistently large turnouts producing a broad fan base. The Blue Ox Bar in Bemidji, MN gave them an opportunity to showcase Oct. 2010 for the first time which brought in more than 200 people. They continued performing at local establishments steadily bringing in crowds by the hundreds. This prompted an invite to perform at the “Up & Coming” show at the Red Sea in Minneapolis. The show was a contest for new talent from all around Minnesota in which North Stars won.
They released the self titled album “ The North Stars”. Their second album “Auroraura” was released In July 2011. Their third album in a year, “F1rst C!ty Mixtape” was released in January 2012. Volumes 2 and 3 were released later in the year. They have performed in every variety of venue, festival, or music event from local dives to Industry Mixers. In 2012 North Stars hosted, co-produced, & wrote "A.B.T.V." which was a show highlighting talent of all entertainment types in the area. Due to their local credibility & regional notoriety they have performed with accomplished artists and industry bests like Tech N9ne of Strange Music, Kutt Kalhoun, Krizz Kaliko, Jay Rock, Lil Flip, Bone Thugs & Harmony, Liquid Assassin, Skatterman, Lil Wyte, Tone Trump, & more.
