Jaq Mackenzie is quite an accomplished young lady. She was top 48 on American Idol Season 14. She is an all-around musician, songwriter and actress. She also holds a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. Jaq has 3 national commercials under her belt has appeared on HOUSE MD, can be seen in the Sea World panoramic film which shows before the Shamu Show in Orlando FL, San Antonio, TX and San Diego. Jaq plays David Arquette’s daughter in the film "Black Limousine" released in July of 2012.
Jaq is currently in a 3 way co-writing /recording/co-producing project with Ric Markmann (HEART, CHRIS CORNELL) and Liane Curtis @ Matter Music, which will result in a 5 song EP. One of the songs (Somethin’ ‘Bout You ) was already released on iTunes. It and another (41 DAYS) have been added to some Internet Radio rotations. (Revolver Underground / Krankit Radio) Jaq self-produced, recorded and released her 1st CD in limited edition on April 7th, 2012. A 2nd CD/EP came out over the summer of 2012 as well, and both sold out.
Jaq's love of music was evident at 6 months of age. She bobbed her head in perfect meter and by 9 months of age, was chiming in on "Whole Lotta Love". She has been singing ever since she could talk. Jaq’s inaugural show was on February 12, 2011. Jaq was invited to play @ the Centennial of Naval Aviation kick-off event at the Naval Air base (NASNI) North Island. Jaq has been performing locally ever since at venues such as: Room 5, Genghis Cohen, Hard Rock Café, NOLA’s LA, Rusty’s Surf Ranch, The Un-Urban Café & more. Jaq plays out about twice a month as well as doing events while juggling a FULL school schedule and last minute auditions. Last September Jaq was flown to NY to do a private event for THE PABLOVE FOUNDATION www.pablove.org. An organization started by new ELEKTRA President, Jeff Castelaz and his wife Jo Ann Thrailkill after their son Pablo lost his life to cancer.
Jaq is the daughter of actress/songwriter/producer, Liane Curtis (16 Candles, Benny n Joon, Girlfriend From Hell) and businessman Timothy Mackenzie. Jaq is the granddaughter of Jack Curtis (Speed Racer, The Flesheaters), and of jazz composer, Paulette Girard, who wrote for Carmen McRae, Coltrane, Bill Evans, The Four Most, Django Reinhardt and more. This makes Jaq 5th gen entertainer and 3rd gen composer. Miss Mackenzie’s family’s involvement in show business dates back to the late 1800s which means her family has been successful in the industry for over a century. Jaq’s music is available on iTunes.
