When I was growing up in the 70's the bands that had the most influence on me were bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, The Moody Blues, Rare Earth... Jam bands, and psycedelic genre's. As I reached the 80's I became more and more influenced by the Jazz Fusion sounds of Santana, Miles Davis, Chick Korea and the like. Mahavishnu Orchestra, Al De Meola made, and Alan Parsons made a huge impact on the expansion of my musical make-up. Genesis is another big influence on my musical model.
I tend to identify more with musical engineers at this point more than pop culture. Along the lines of people like Alan Parsons, Peter Gabriel. I love to use electronic instruments to create soundscapes and stories within ones mind. I used to listen to bands for hours laying on my bed as I would wander the universe from within. I never grew tired of this.
Lately, I've started to appreciate the nature of loop tracks and digital samples. My desire at this point is to merge an 'organic' sound with a digital one. The ultimate form of fusion to me.
Music is all out there, floating around in time, waiting for you to receive it and enjoy it. All you need to do is seek it and it will find you. And if you breath it, you will become it.
