Arizona Bay / Press

“The opening riff of ‘Gadfly’ is a grungy rock drawl which gives way to a playful indie/heavy rock hybrid beat that is sure to get your shoulders shaking. With a commanding vocal, a catchy bass hook and a scratchy guitar solo, by the end of the song, Arizona Bay have nicely layered elements of grunge, indie and hard rock in an interesting fashion to create a reasonably fresh sounding track. Arizona Bay's debut album, 'Refuse', is due for release early next year, and if it contains half as much thrashing grunge-rock and a quarter of the pounding vocals demonstrated on 'Gadfly', then it is set to be a raw and pulsating corker of a LP.”

“With the financial climate, the bad weather and the general sense of dissatisfaction in the air at present a grunge revival truly does seem on the cards and when it arrives Arizona Bay deserve to be at the forefront.”

Leeds Music Scene

“Singer Rhys Williams is engaging and has an impressive range sounding uncannily like Miles Kennedy at points. The beautifully understated guitar is reminiscent of perhaps the 90s most underrated band, Screaming Trees and the general subtlety of their sound allows them to explore a range of themes and emotions well.”

Leeds Music Scene

"One of Leeds' most exciting live bands!"

Richard Watson - 360 Club

“Their music touches many genres most notably grunge as singer Rhys Williams belts out Chris Cornell-esque vocals and all of their songs are well constructed with accomplished breakdowns and a loud/soft dynamic which manages to avoid being too cliché... the must-see-again band. ”

“Subtle dynamics, tremendous energy, and great melodies. Williams' voice and the band's sound really complement each other perfectly.”

Jamie Stangroom, Up All Night (BBC 5Live)

“Instantly from listening to the grunge infused sound of Arizona Bay, you can hear a dramatic similarity to the coarse but beautiful voices of the likes of Cornell and Vedder. It is difficult to define their sound as it touches so many different genres; yet in doing so creates their own unique sound. The mellow sound that Williams’ holds in his voice, full of romantic truth yet also that of negativity, captivates the listener. This Leeds based four piece, are not for the faint hearted. Their truthful lyrics, raw sound and ability to create their own individual sound is something that need be applauded.”

"A very well produced, well written alternative rock album written by very talented musicians. For fans of Alter Bridge, Seether, Smile Empty Soul, etc."

Jonny Gill - Shattered Glass

“A very authentic hard rock sound and strong frontman vocals ”

Leonard's Lair

“A band who are taking music back to an era that has spawned many a pretender of late. However, this is a band who truly understand and effortlessly belong in their genre. Grunge is back and thank god for the guys from Arizona Bay for reviving it with such flare and intensity, delivering a fresh twist whilst also sticking to their roots. A band to watch out for! ”

Lyrically Justified

“Leeds based Arizona Bay do exactly what it says on the tin. Their sound is a homage to, and a revival of all that is great about U.S west coast grunge and on-the-road sensibility. Chris Cornell would stop, stare and sip! ”
