Queer Punk Fest is a FREE event taking place in Southern California. It is born out of the need for queer punks and radical queers to carve out a space in a heavily white-macho radical/anarchist-punk scene. Queer Punk Fest will mark the beginning of the end of the heteronormative scene we have all day-dreamed of escaping from. In a scene that has become another costume party for white hipsters and suburban kids, we reclaim the power of punk and DIY culture to create alternative spaces free from oppression and social hierarchies. As a collective run by queer and trans people of color, we recognize that punk was born out of this necessity to create alternative spaces that challenge mainstream ideals. We aim to be the hammer that will drive the final nail into the coffin of a scene that has tokenized, abused, and misunderstood our existence. We see the current punk and anarchist/radical community as a reflection, not a rejection, of the very same ideals that marginalize our everyday existence. It is because of this that Queer Punk Fest will serve as the catalyst towards the coup d’état of this white heteronormative scene. Queer Punk Fest will be an intersectional, trans-inclusive, decolonial extravaganza. As social misfits and agitators, revenge is our first objective. https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=234680383241069 Lets End the Silence and End the Violence! From the late 1970's through present day, Take Back The Night events have been held by college and university women's centers, YWCA's, rape crisis centers, community centers, high school student groups, battered women's shelters, and other organizations dedicated to helping women achieve safety and empowerment. Events have been held in England, Belgium, Australia, Canada, the Caribbean Islands, the United States, and likely other corners of the globe. Men are also lending their voices and standing as survivors at many events. Most events involve candlelight vigils, speak outs, marches and rallies in order to raise awareness about sexual violence. Some events involve only women, but as more men voice their own stories of sexual abuse, most events are coed efforts to raise awareness and promote healing. All events strive to bring awareness to the problem of sexual violence and support those who have been victimized. Early events focused on unsafe streets, cities and campuses; and then as a protest to pornography and the degradation of women and sexuality. Today, events highlight the problem of violence against women as well as the broader issues of sexual violence: sexual assault, rape, dating violence, sexual abuse, domestic violence, stalking, sexual harassment, child abuse, internet harassment and other unhealthy relationships. Take Back The Night fights to end child prostitution and world-wide sexually related crimes. http://www.takebackthenight.org/history.html There will be workshops, spoken word, art, vendors, food, open mic, candle vigil, community awareness, and unity. This event is open to all. We welcome all ages, and all levels of ability, women of color, queer and transfolks, LGBTQIA individulas, men, parents, sex positive individuals, working class people, all cultures and sub-cultures, all citizenships. Bio: This is what we do. Not for profit , not for fame, but just to get some anguish out of our minds in this twisted existence.

Sometimes loud, tone deaf, noisy, detuned, distorted beats is the only thing that may make sense...a break from this plastic society.

Looks like we were meant to play som...See Full Bio
