The pianist/vocalist of iconic band Level 42, Mike Lindup, teams up with Latin Jazz pianist Alex Wilson for a special concert of Afro-Cuban Level 42 songs and latin jazz pianistic fireworks plus Venezuelan percussionist Edwin Sanz and bassist Davide Mantovani. Known worldwide as a key player of the hugely successful Level 42 band, Mike Lindup recently released a solo album featuring his piano playing "Conversations with Silence", which includes strong influences from Brazil and Cuba, and is a fascinating insight into Mike's pianistic work. With nine solo albums released, Derbyshire-born Wilson's driving passion is latin music and he has an authentic command of Latin American and Caribbean rhythms, an unquenchable appetite for stripping back this music to its African roots and fearlessly exploring of the welter of world rhythms. In the spring of 2014, Mike Lindup visited Alex Wilson's Zurich studio and they worked on new versions of existing Level 42 songs, re-arranging them with an Afro-Cuban slant, as they have never been heard before and created for a special performance at Pizza Express’s very own London Latin Jazz Fest 2014. Due to popular demand, they are back with this show for a second performance at the prestigious Steinway Festival - a night combining fresh versions of famous songs with Cuban fireworks … not to be missed!

he young musician to watch at the moment, Peter Tickell has made his mark over the last two years touring with the Sting band and wowing audiences worldwide with his intense performances. Peter worked on Alex's special commission - Compass Suite in 2010 - (making video here http://www.thecompass-suite.com/) - alongside Peter's sister Kathryn Tickell . Now four years later they meet in a unique collaboration which will combine Afro-Cuban pianistic fire with folk-infused violinistic virtuosity. With Venezuelan percussion maestro Edwin Sanz and Alex's long time collaborator Davide Mantovani on bass. The Festival comes to a barn-storming grand final with the most the most ambitious and wild fusion yet. Over two shows, the Alex Wilson Quartet turns up the heat remorselessly with Afro-Cuban pianistic fire from Wilson, exhibitionist displays of impossible prowess by Venezuelan percussion maestro Edwin Sanz and demon Celtic-fusion violinist, Peter Tickell. Tickell is an exciting new discovery, whose frenzied passion for genre-bending matches Wilson's own insatiable creative drive. Passionate about the folk music of his native Northumbria, Celtic rhythms as well as his strong classical foundations, Tickell is as mad about jazz, pop, world and more. Over the past two years, Tickell has toured with Sting's band.
