Steve Kelly & Andy Towell:
Two mates blazing a musical trail entirely of their own faking.
"I've been listening to your tunes - I love Smooth Afternoon. 'The House on the Hill' has got a bit of Jethro Tull influence if I'm not mistaken!! I felt myself back in the early seventies then. I liked 'Cardboard City' - your sound is interesting on that particular song. The first four lines are very ethereal, haunting, then it goes into a kind of Blur mockney, coarseness - and so on throughout the song. Which to me gives two dimensions, one of the harshness of living on the streets and the other a kind of ghostly whisper of something close to death. That's me, very imaginative, but I am glad I can get that kind of buzz and interpretation from the song - I was homeless in my late teens so I guess that song rings a chord with me. Your songs are quite diverse, which is always good. I hate it when music goes along one route, eg, Muse, Coldplay."
