“One of the things that works best for Beacon Light is his unwillingness to be an Eminem clone. Beacon chooses to blaze his own trail. Actually, Beacon doesn’t even “sound” like a white guy when he’s rapping. If I hadn’t met Beacon Light and seen the cover art, I’d have had no idea. Be that as it may, this white boy has some skills that demand respect. Overall, Overcomin’ is not just a solid Christian rap project. It’s a solid rap album. While decidedly Christian in scope, I’m sure Beacon could hold his own in the mainstream industry if he decided not to glorify Christ. But, what’s the point of gaining the whole world and losing your soul right? I’m glad Beacon is being faithful to Jesus and using the gift he has been blessed with to glorify God, exhort believers, and call sinners to repentance. By partnering with some quality, season beatmakers and some other emcees, Beacon Light stands to be shining the light of the Gospel through rhyme for quite a bit longer.”
