In January 2005, ZONE was chosen among over a 1000 other artists from 20+ countries to showcase on the 24/01/05 "Live Upstairs at Midem" - The world most respected and long running (40th edition) music business tradeshow in Cannes. On this jazz world evening, an enthusiastic music industry audience and ZONE made it a night to remember, just ask around those who were there. Whoss is ZONE? Enzo Torregrossa, aka Zone, has meticulously created an intriguing fusion of jazz and electronic dance music to yield a unique melody the jazz scene hasnt yet tasted. The Italian bass player has made comrades of two very different genres of music, and collided what most would consider polar opposites to combine into musical eloquence. Not far from becoming a show stopper at several jazz festivals around the world, Zone will most notably be recognized for a risky marriage of two seemingly distant musical expressions and making one great sound. "Madrugada" will remind many old-school listeners of classic dancefloor hits, bringing back to life the soulful jazz sound that has been lost in the frenzy for up-tempo music that retains instrumental integrity without crude lyrics. Zone has consciously, or unconsciously, filled a void in the music industry; hes created sensual sound without overt themes of blunt sexuality. Blurring what stereotypically constitutes as the defining restrictions of what each genre of music such satisfy, one musician has defied what has been, to what will be.
