Writers Block was born independently out of the streets of Cape Town in early 2005 as a rebel force against the South African major record labels hostile takeover and perversion of the art form. The crew was also formed in response to the perceived stagnation of the Cape Town underground movement during the same period. The name refers to a Block or a central hub where skilled Writers/ lyricists collaborate for a fuse of their energies and cadences, fortifying forces with the dopest producers and one sick turntablist.
Between the beat maestros and the wordsmiths, Writers Block produces an explosive blend of sonic artistry and syllable play. Don't sleep!

Musically focused and driven, The Block of Writers compries of 8 members; Metabolism, X the 24th, Vernon Visqus, Konfab, Big Dre, Saturn, Arsenic and King Coconuts. As indivuals, we all have been doing our solo projects and we came together as we found that as a unit, we can create a product that will enable us to join talents and reach a larger audiance.
