“Opening track 'Wherein I Exalt' is a slow building and quite doom-oriented cut highlighting Withershin's ability to mix a claustrophobic feeling with eerie melodies. The title track is more in typical black metal territory with a hyperspeed assault but yet again with those typical cold Swedish melodies. The last track 'Crossing the Threshold' combines both traits in one of the eeriest cuts this band has written to date. Vocalist Nine sounds like Erik "Legion" Hagstedt's early work with Marduk in sheer serpentine intensity. The handdrawn artwork is exquisite and the production is surprisingly heavy and clear.”
