Wise-L Leathermonk / Press

“SHOPPERS in Musselburgh had their heads turned on Monday as the colourful travelling musician Leather Monk arrived in the Honest Toun. Leathermonk, who describes himself as an artist/craftsman/musician and part-time gardener, has been playing his prized ukelele for four years and has amassed over 50 songs. He travelled to China and Borneo last year and performed for many villages dressed in his trademark tartan outfit. Leathermonk, from Monktonhall, said: "I've been working and travelling around for many years. Originally I'm a drummer but picked up the ukelele about four years ago. "It's a lot easier making decisions when it's just you in the band. I'm also a craftsman, painter and sculptor and I make my art from natural materials and things I find. "I've got some of my art for sale in some Edinburgh craft shops and CDs in record shops" ”
