Experiencing popular success on the East Coast in the late 70's & 80's as a member of the R&B group "Power Steering" and performing along beside R&B and Jazz legends Bobbie Humphrey, Roy Ayers, Herb Rooney and Brenda Reid of The Exciters was the beginning of William Taylor's passion for the stage. Herbie and Brenda as he affectionately called them were like a second set of parents who were very instrumental in the shaping and molding of his humble beginnings. In the early 90's he played a key role in another R&B group called, Taylor II when he began opening for such artist as Janet Jackson, The Temptations, The Four Tops and Jimmy Buffet along with many others. It was a great experience and grand opportunity but the real success story of William Taylor came along in 1997 during the re-birth period of his career when he surrendered to being born again. Growing up in a small southern town (Angier) in North Carolina, getting his informal training from his musical family and in the gospel choir at his church, William has been humbled once again by God’s Grace and Mercy and inspired to become a servant. Taylor says, "God’s Grace and Mercy, encouragement from family and friends and after twenty-five years of performing for audiences of all ages, has seasoned me for this time in my life." He has gone on to accomplish singing commercial jingles for Wizpro Productions that point to Radio One programming, Willie Mae McIver "A Musical Soul Food" of the ABC Radio Network and the Russ Parr Morning Show. With his career beginning to take off he began contributing background vocals for artist like, Kim Yvette from the CD "Born Again Love Songs", Min. Norris Garner from the CD "He's Blessing Me", Min. John Butler from the CD "He Can Supply", Sonya Barry from the CD "Latter Rain" and also James Grear & Co. He rendered lead vocals on the track "Fathers Business" from the CD "About My Fathers Business" by Cornell Cutts and was featured on the track "Higher Ground" from the CD "A Musical Messenger" by DeeJazz. As a member of “The Collective”, William Taylor played a major role in helping to record the national gospel-recording project titled, “If You’re Gonna Worry Don’t Pray” with Denver A. Wright & The Collective featuring Tony Terry. On their debut CD "If You're Gonna Worry Don't Pray" released in January 2000, Taylor contributes background vocals throughout the entire project. His voice is featured prominently on two songs from that CD: "Sanctified Soul" which he co-wrote and "I Want to Be Ready". Working with the expressive movement styles and interpretations of award winning producers Denver A. Wright and Jimmy Brown, Taylor was blessed to realize his very own solo project title, Blessfully Yours. Since the release of his new project he is being hailed as “The Sam Cooke of Today’s Gospel”. His wide range of musical tastes runs the gamut of reverential songs -- from worship and majestic ballads to smooth R&B rhythms, and contemporary grooves! Taylor is making a mark in the music industry with what has been described as a healing and soothing gift. This debut project contains songs that point to our relationship with Christ and mankind. William is ready to tackle the issues we all face, to bring a light of clarity and a slightly different perspective on our day-to-day existence. Using lyrics that have meaning and an inspirational message it will encourage you to hope again. After having his own struggle with faith and trusting in God, Taylor is qualified to bear witness. He was healed from Bells Palsy (Facial Paralysis) by the miraculous power of having faith and trusting God at His word. Taylor said, “While looking in the mirror at my affliction I began to pray and talk to God. Lord if this is your will for me I’m going to accept it now. I am going to surrender and allow you to bear my burdens for me”. Amen. And just like Jesus left the tomb in three days, in three days the paralysis left his body. William’s prayer today is he hopes believing in the power of God will encourage you to have faith in your life. This testimony is evident in William’s spirit as he delivers his message in song. Still yet, God is blessing another area of William Taylor’s ministry. In 2006, he was cast as “Pastor Dual” in a gospel stage play title,"Strong Woman" written by playwright Vanessa Burgess and directed by James A. House. In 2007, Taylor made an appearance as "Grand Pa Paul" singing "The Glory of the Lord" written by Internatioanl Gospel Artist and Composer Min. Norris Garner in the hit gospel stage play Spare The Rod Spoil The Child.
