Bio
United by musical curiosity and a shared love of jazz, West 73rd is a quartet comprised of pianist Frank Ponzio, bassist Peter Donovan, drummer Vito Lesczak, and vocalist Hilary Gardner. The moniker "West 73rd" is a nod to where the quartet’s musical collaboration began: in Frank Ponzio’s studio on West 73rd Street in Manhattan.
West 73rd's debut recording, "A Song About Forever," is the first chapter in the quartet’s ongoing journey into the haunting, deeply human world of Kurt Weill. Unwilling to restrict their creativity to a specific genre, West 73rd has also embarked on a musical exploration of legendary British songwriter Sting's eclectic, often jazz-influenced repertoire.
