‘Wayward Trippers’ was originally formed by schoolmates Michael Owen, Alexander Brodella and Ben Pollard who spent 4 years playing acoustic gigs at various venues around Leicestershire. At the tail end of 2007, Simon “Mini” May joined the group bringing a smooth sound of funky beats giving Wayward Trippers a truly spectacular alternative jazz/rock quality with that all important bit of funk. Shortly after Simon, Alan Smith entered into the mix, bringing with him a style of 80’s punk and alternative rock. Combining a mixture of music genres inspired through other music groups such as Oasis, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Incubus the group have merged melodic rock with a variation of Britpop and funk/jazz riffs to bring a unique style and originality to the music scene.

In mid 2008, ‘Wayward Trippers’ in search of a producer linked up with Corin Giles of Evolution Media in London, to record their EP at Vocal Tech’s ‘Brilliant Building’, aptly naming it ‘The Brilliant Sessions’. Corin was XFM's Live Session Producer (1999 - 2003), where he recorded over 900 bands including Joan Armatrading, Coldplay, The Darkness, The Flaming Lips and The Cure to name a few.

“This talented young band has the potential to go a long way. They have a unique sound and their enthusiasm and drive makes them a great band to work with” (Corin Giles)

For the members of ‘Wayward Trippers’ music plays a huge part in their lives. Everything about their music comes down to their love for creating it and the feelings behind it.

“We try to create a sound that everyone can relate to. We hope that our music is seen as something different that will inspire others, as many other innovating bands have for us”.(Ben Pollard)

Moving forward, Wayward trippers are currently putting together their album ‘Music of the Freeloader’ which is due to be ready for release early next year and promises to be slightly better than the cheeky girls.
