Wendela van Swol was born in The Hague (Netherlands), where she studied both her bachelors and masters degree at the Royal Conservatory of Music with the renowned flutists Frans Vester and Paul Verheij (soloflute with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra)
She did summer courses and "masterclasses" with Peter-Lukas Graf, Olivier Messiaen, Trevor Wye, Geoffrey Gilbert, Frans Brüggen, Barthold Kuyken, Sophie Cherrier, André Jaunet and Stephen Preston.
