Born (July 12, 1983) and raised in the Acres Homes community on the North side of Houston, Texas, Vernon “V Squad” Hudson demonstrated an appreciation for quality music at an early age by listening to vinyl recordings of legendary artists and groups such as Prince, The Isley Brothers, Anita Baker and War. As the hip hop revolution began to rise to prominence in the late 80s and early to mid-nineties, he often rushed to the nearest music store to pick up the latest offerings from Jay-Z, Nas, AZ, The Roots, and H-Town legend Scarface. Inspired by what he describes as an intense “love and passion for music”, Vernon began to develop and hone his emcee skills by writing lyrics to instrumentals produced by the likes of heavyweight producers The Neptunes, Dr. Dre, and Kayne West, to name a few.

While perfecting his craft, Vernon has been fortunate to collaborate with a number of artists and producers, including Houston rapper Wine-O (aka Wine-O), Bad Boy South producer Anthony “Scoe” Walker, G-Unit producer Lab Ox, and Anceo from MTV’s “Making the Band” series. As a testament to his clever lyrical skills, fluid delivery, and commanding stage presence, he has been afforded opportunities to open up for rap stars Bun B and Redman. His performance list includes shows at the popular Sneaker Pimp Tour, Hotzone Media Concert Series, and several venues in Texas. V-Squad is in a continuous process to develop a catalogue of music that displays the heart, creativity, and conviction that appears to be lacking in much of today’s hip hop landscape. With his dedication and work ethic, this process won’t stop until greatness is achieved.
